Here is Flying Dagger, the second unit in the CODECASA 41s Open series by Codecasa Shipyards. She is an open yacht with sleek, sporty lines, created especially for Codecasa by Andre Bacigalupo and ordered by a loyal Codecasa Client, already the owner of a 35-metre open, who wanted his new jewel to keep the name of his previous boat. Measuring 41 metres in length and 8 metres in beam, the new Flying Dagger has very modern and striking exterior lines, made all the more distinctive by her exterior colours, a metallic anthracite grey for the hull and a metallic light grey for the superstructure, recalling the first 41-metre open, Family Day, with which Codecasa Shipyards won prestigious awards such as the 2007 International Yachts Trophy. There are generous outdoor relaxation spaces both forward and aft on the main deck. The sunbathing area on the Sun Deck is also very liveable, with a bar area and a second helm station that is very useful especially for mooring manoeuvres. The interiors, designed by designer Ivana Porfiri, are characterised by essential lines. The main saloon, combining living and dining areas, is very bright thanks to the large side windows and the ceiling skylight. The wall separating the saloon from the bridge is special, in palladium leaf, a semi-precious metal close to platinum. This installation, entitled “d’après Yves Klein”, is made with partially loose leaf, just as the great French artist who inspired it used to do. White dominates all areas: a “base” white expressing different textures and surfaces depending on the material, whether the brushed and varnished wood of the floorboards, the “mural” finish of the walls and ceilings, or the satin surface of the leather of the beds and accessories. Other materials completing the spaces were selected for their ability to react to light, whether natural or artificial, such as the mother-of-pearl chosen for the washbasin tops or the dichroic glass of the showers. The shape of the portholes in the cabins is special, blending the rounded shape typical of ships with a kind of manor-house memory. The crew area is also carefully designed in its forms, finishes and functionality. This area is set on two levels, organised around an open space housing a dinette with an independent kitchen, made of recycled plastic, and a multi-purpose area. These spaces are screened by transparent honeycomb partitions that let in light from the side portholes.
