In the heart of the Darsena today, May 30, 2025, we celebrate the 200-year history of Codecasa Shipyards, an excellence in Italian boating. Roberta Patalani of Lucifero Design presents “Codecasa’s Journey” at Viareggio Yacht Center, a permanent installation designed to commemorate and enhance the history and tradition of a shipyard deeply linked to the city of Viareggio.
Through a visual narrative, the exhibition traces the evolution of the Shipyard from its origins back in 1825 to the present day. A journey between past and present that pays tribute to two centuries of commitment, passion and dedication that have always distinguished Codecasa.
“For me and my studio it is a real pleasure and honor to be able to tell the story of the Codecasa Shipyards started a good 200 years ago, we thank the Codecasa family and Patron Fulvio for choosing us as interpreters of this tale.” Comments Roberta Patalani of Lucifero Design, a Design and Scenography studio responsible for the design and construction of “Il Viaggio,” which occupies the ground floor of the Viareggio Yachting Center overlooking the beautiful and renovated Piazza Viani.
“The work tells of waves and water, skies and boats. The showcases punctuate the narrative like frames of a film, while the shaped elements amplify its rhythm and depth“-explains Roberta Patalani-”We graphically reworked and reinterpreted the historical photographs made available by the Codecasa archive, enriching them with iconic and symbolic elements: animals, landscapes, visual suggestions. So just as the ancient columns symbolize strength and longevity of the shipyard, in turn the large whales (whose skeletons evoke the planking of the boats that lead us back to the Viareggio tradition of shipwrights) become symbols of sacredness and good omen.”
This installation is a tribute to the skill and talent of those who, for two centuries, have continued to give the city of Viareggio works of art destined to be eternal.
